Has anybody ever done a survey of which comment systems work well, which don't and why?
Heavy amounts of manual curation seems to be a requirement. But then you need to trust the moderators

The requirement to earn 50 points before commenting makes a big difference, I think. Weeds out a lot of drive-by traffic.
