The cost of this is technical debt. But I think it's the right attitude for research, which is basically prototyping.

Read up on 'OODA loops'. Military doctrine - Observe, Orient, Decide, Act. Do that faster than 'the enemy', and you'll win.

Totally disagree. If picking one factor, productivity boils down to long periods of uninterrupted work - REGULARLY.

Also, quick decisions != good decisions. Kahneman and Tversky built a career around this idea - see "Thinking, Fast and Slow"
