Humans think in terms of sequences of actions. Arguably the best way to emulate human creative behaviors is by generating data sequentially.
I get your point, but arguably any holistic vibe derives its meaning from the narrative around it. Atmosphere in a painting evokes a story.

Consider an emotion conveyed by an artwork. Isn't all emotion either reaction or anticipation? Can emotion be conveyed without a narrative?

We are neither pure sequential or spatial processors, nonetheless it is interesting to build pure sequential models of the creative process.
