The figure "there are only 50 deep learning experts in the world" is worryingly elitist. It means "it's just me and my buddies"

Even with fairly ambitious definitions of "expert" (e.g. multiple papers accepted at top conferences) there are at least ~1000 experts
Which is well below 1% of the total number of deep learning practitioners

also, it's one of those fields it's really kinda easy to become an "expert" in.

It is the least scientific academic field I have encountered so far.
