On these messages boards, currently, a large fractions of posts are "signal boosting" for planted political messages, via bots & paid trolls
So this is not a crazy question: how much is opportunistic co-opting of a natural emergent phenomenon, how much was deliberately planned?

It's important to ask these questions today, because tomorrow AI will make these ops far cheaper and more scalable. Less trolls, more bots

They are fanatic to manipulate Opinion, absolutely fanatic. They've done do for years with trolls, the use of bots.
