Periodic reminder that rewriting your existing software product from scratch is almost universally a bad idea.
The core point (rewrite to replace core datastructures) does not hold if your problem is trivial (e.g. webapp) or does not change over time.

If you deal with hard problems that evolve over time, then rewriting is the only reasonable thing to do. It's what is successful in practice
