this year's ICML was buzzing with grad students planning startups as a ticket to quick money rather than to solve something. terrible idea!
they'll get funding, because we're in an AI bubble. They might even get some time window for an acquihire.

didn't say they'd get a big upside! Metamind had a better team than most, but likely no one made much money in the acq.
