@fchollet I have a hard time seeing people getting so worked up and hateful if they are fat and happy (well, happy)
people will get worked up if they feel that their identity is being threatened, regardless of material well-being.

I would argue that their identity is in fact being threatened, and the media (social media and legacy media) reflects this.

I feel like identity is secondary to hierarchy. People gladly shed past identity when they feel like they are winning.
