I know how you feel. There's always the chance they didn't know, but if you contact them and they don't credit then it's rude.

In my case it was open source with blog post (still no paper) but also wasn't credited.
harder to find if you're looking for papers, but at the same time more widely read and better indexed for search...

Probably best credit is as you said to just add it to open libraries like Keras, etc. Or have a showy application.
