ML doesn't have the asymmetrical, adversarial component that crypto does. Even expertly-written crypto spends years under fire.

ML has the exact same asymmetrical, adversarial component... e.g. ML for credit card/click fraud detection, spam filtering, etc.

I should mention that these problems are also generally harder to solve than crypto, which at least has well documented solutions
