Given its economic and cultural impact, Silicon Valley should look like Singapore or central Tokyo, with comfortable highrises, parks, and a top-notch train system -- not a vague cluster of parking lots, strip malls, office parks, and bungalows from the 1970s. What a waste.
On a similar note, I really like what has been happening to the South Lake Union neighborhood in Seattle as a result of Microsoft and Amazon wealth. A formerly car-centric industrial warehouse area, it's now increasingly looking and feeling like central Tokyo. Highrises ftw
