To paraphrase Kierkegaard, art is not an algorithm to be engineered, but a reality to be experienced. Pressing a button to generate a new landscape painting is to artistic practice what watching a robot on a treadmill is to working out.

Hmmm… but an artistic practice ends up with artifacts, observers, and appreciators. Unlike a workout, art has value and impact separate from provenance. Robotic sports is a more apt comparison than a workout.
