I wouldn't say an alternative *business model* qualifies as a new paradigm. You'd need content with significantly new *affordances* or a new *interface*. For instance apps as "places" you access via a VR headset would clearly qualify (if it ever gets traction)
Oh yeah totally agree with you. Was just ranting that nowadays you have to have a subscription for everything 
That's a huge peeve, actually. If something requires a subscription to read, it shouldn't be circulated widely - not because publishers shouldn't make money, but because most people are not likely to have / want more subscriptions.
