I really appreciate Microsoft's turn towards supporting open-source. Generally speaking, the company has been doing great things under Satya.

I'm pretty worried about things going in an "embrace, extend, extinguish" direction but maybe that's not the strategy anymore, vs Azure being the center of the business.

That's not how they saw it before - it's kind of an open question (perhaps reducable to the Halting Problem :p) whether they've changed their mind or not.

ftr, I do think there's at least slightly-better-than-coinflip odds that it's for real and their new business model is about the cloud (rather than IP), but who knows?
