IDK, Jobs was well known for being a jerk, however I don't think Apple has ever been regarded as a toxic company. Same with Tesla.

In the beginning of my career, I found it weird that a colleague would refer to companies via anthropomorphisms like 'company X is not reliable', 'company Y is hard working', etc.
-
Turns out that actually makes sense and is just a consequence of the culture developed in those companies, which can be traced back to which behaviour their founders instilled in them.

Shared vision and defined mission of founding team are very critical pillars which shape the company’s culture.

I haven't taken a job in the last decade without asking to meet the company's founders first (exception being Kaggle, where I met Kaggle's founders rather than Google's
) and it has served me incredibly well in weeding out jobs that I definitely did not want.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

If we’re going to talk about “toxic” cultures: what about the finance culture that funds the company? Can we really abstract that away? Seems relevant somehow
