As excited as I too am about the new MacBook Pro, I can't help but feel that it reflects poorly on the state of Apple that the features many people are excited about are reversions to a 7 year-old machine. The M1 is remarkable, but in so many ways, today's Apple seems rudderless.

Counter point: the 7 year old machine with updated specs is exactly what most users want. Change should serve user needs -- don't run UX experiments on your customers at scale.

You did not punish them by not buying when they went backwards. Now when they bring the features back your applaud is going to only cement their thinking that they were right all along. Apple was dead long time ago.
