1/ I just noticed that the latest @TensorFlow release is still on Numpy 1.19, which is increasingly out of step with the rest of the ecosystem. This raises a few questions for me

@TensorFlow looks to be actively developed looking at GitHub activity. But a major issue like lack of Numpy 1.20+ has been allowed to remain unfixed for multiple releases. Off the record, I've heard a lot of focus has shifted to Jax1 reply 1 retweet 0 likesShow this thread -
3/ Is
@TensorFlow soft deprecated? If so, could the developer team issue guidance on migration pathways? If not, could the team give guidance on when to expect Numpy 1.20+ and on expected plans for long term maintenance?3 replies 0 retweets 2 likesShow this thread -
Replying to @rbhar90 @TensorFlow
Hi Bharath, I can reassure you, TensorFlow is not deprecated and there is no intent to ever deprecate it. It is what powers AI for Google products. TF today has more users (both at Google and across the industry) and active team members than at any point in its six-year history.

For specific technical concerns (like Numpy dependency version) I'd encourage you to reach out directly to tensorflow-users@google.com.

In general, the existence of other frameworks besides TF should not come at a surprise -- to use a programming language analogy, the existence of Go does not mean that C++ is going out of fashion. They're just different languages.

You should generally expect several frameworks to coexist going forward, corresponding to different user profiles and different tradeoffs and philosophies. The stable state of a mature ML ecosystem is a small number of specialized frameworks, rather than a single universal choice

Just like for programming languages, really. Anyway, happy to discuss more if you're interested
