The lower down the stack a technology is, the more important it is that its interface be highly stable (so as not to invalidate all the layers built on top whenever things change) and its behaviors simple and consistent (so as not to create leaky abstractions).

Best code I ever shipped had one maintenance release and then remained stable for a decade. Simple, but efficient. Looking forward to seeing Web 3.0 architecture. The 2.0 microservices wave enabled terrible design decisions that will haunt downstream consumers for years to come.
