Russia attempted to boost the vaccination rates by imposing such restrictions. Didn’t work well. Only about 30% of the population are fully vaccinated, and the mandates have been lifted. But if it hadn’t been for these restrictions, the number would have been much smaller.

There is already a price being paid, the increased risk of infection and death. Medical decisions should be on a case to case basis, not a blanket authoritarian diktat, specially considering the natural immunity in infected population.
