I don't know who needs to hear this, but proofreading something twice with two different fonts and large/smaller font sizes helps you catch more typos. The effect of font size is especially large.

Print catches some more ... Showing to two colleagues catches some more. Explaining to others the contents paragraph by paragraph - some more... At this stage, we sometimes feel we need to rewrite because we already feel it is not upto speed !!! ;)(P.s: for me at least!)
