That saddest songs i know are all in a major key

Let me try to articulate what this means. There are many sad songs in minor keys, which tend to express some kind of suffering, regret, nostalgia -- some kind of painful imbalance. Minor chords are perfect to convey such imbalances. But they're not the saddest songs I know.

The saddest songs I know don't quite express pain, rather, they express the peace & acceptance that comes at the very end of the line. The smile on your face as you depart a life of tragedy -- what's left once the pain has come & gone. The melody to go with this is an upbeat one.

It's probably a type of partial "dissonance" like seeing a sad clown. The power or a major key, but enlisted to convey sadness. Bouba being kiki, kiki is bouba.. drama ensues.
