Steve Job's keynote introducing the iPhone is great in several ways. What I like the most about it is that it focuses entirely on describing the product via *what you can do with it* (affordances). You can listen to your music, you can make calls, you can access the internet.

To evaluate a tech announcement, ask yourself: 1. What can you do with this thing? 2. Are these capabilities new? 3. How do the new capabilities change the game? Do not ask: 1. Does it seem cool? 2. Does the tech seem complex / advanced? 3. Who's making it?
