1FA: your password 1.5FA: your password + SMS (poor man's 2FA) 2FA: your password + hardware-based or app-based OTP 3FA: your password + OTP + biometric reading (e.g. fingerprint reader that doubles as OTP device)

I'm waiting for us to ditch the "lock this screen in 10 minutes" rules paradigm and move to a system where we calculate the likelyhood of this being the right person based on context (location, idle time, etc) & biometrics (ideally multiple combined)
