And yes, obviously, using i as index in a loop or using the abbreviation num_* is completely fine. The question is not "is the variable name a full word", it's "is it understandable by everyone reading the code". In m cs s var nm ct b intp. Please use common sense.

I'm surprised more people don't add lint rules to enforce 3 letter minimum identifiers. I often will just ban that at a language's grammar level.
