It's often the case that the most genius products aren't created via a clear & deliberate vision. Rather, they arise from getting a few fundamental things right plus happening to hit all the right buttons at the right time out of sheer luck
This kind of success can't be reproduced: making a new product based on the same fundamental things you got right the first time is unlikely to succeed -- you needed the stars to align
I'm thinking of Minecraft among other specific examples. Perhaps the most genius game of all time (though it could have been much better still with a clearer vision)
This is also why following in the footsteps of successful people/enterprises is often a loosing strategy.
