This kind of success can't be reproduced: making a new product based on the same fundamental things you got right the first time is unlikely to succeed -- you needed the stars to align

I agree, but I think it may be even more commonly the case w/ the most genius of products to actually get a series of fundamental things wrong. The key here however is remaining open to new directions and discoveries, resulting in creations far beyond original visions.
