If you're young and ambitious, it makes sense that you'd want to invest your free time towards advancing your career. But working on weekends (for your employer) is rarely the best option. It's more effective to spend your free time learning new skills & developing side projects.
Usual caveats, because Twitter: don't forget to set up some time to relax (don't burn out!), some time for exploration / serendipity (don't get stuck doing the same thing forever!), and some time for art / family / friends (don't forget what life is about!)
