My issue isn't with the mainstream media. It's with the for profit media. All of them tell people what they want to hear but the mainstream just has a different audience. but there are already plenty of great non profit options like the guardian, hrw and bbc

and the for profit media doesn't cover local races because it's not profitable. How can our democracy work if most elections don't get covered

look at what the for profit media (both mainstream and fringe) chooses to focus on. They're like "breaking news. there's a tweet we don't like". It has nothing to do with what's most important and everything to do with what makes them money

People like to see world in their own image, including news sites . Inherent point of selecting and judging what is newsworthy introduce bias it gets worse when you are for profit organization, add publishing subjective opinions/propaganda of individuals under guise of journalism
