Obviously, they don't have a problem with mechanisms for sourcing, verification, and accountability. They just want to be told things they agree with.

You can't fight that with better trust mechanisms (than what outlets like the NYT implement). And you most definitely can't fight that with "blockchain" (whatever that may mean)
