It's a lot easier to crank out more mediocre material than to stubbornly refine (or redo) what you have until it's great. But you don't make something great by accumulating mediocre content.

I was mostly thinking of writing and music, but I guess it applies to software, too: you won't save a mediocre product by adding more semi-adequate features.
