The absolute worst typographic crime isn't Comic Sans, Papyrus, or bad kerning. It's trying to use elements of a non-latin script (like Cyrillic or katakana) to imitate latin characters

A lot of people love icelandic and cirilic symbols and use them extensively to write english, no idea why. Meanwhile I have problems using accents when writing in spanish.

This isn’t novel. ς becomes C such as in IC XC, the Latin form of Christ’s Greek abbreviation. Though I must admit, it’s not as jarring as Cyrillic characters used in an English context.
