Keras has some pretty cool features (like here, train_step overriding) that you can use to implement what you need in as little code as possible. But you are inheriting like that then you have to understand Model, Layer, and a bunch of other classes. And heaps of decorators. And understand from their code that you find in a bunch of different locations.
