        Exactly, this is also referenced by Maxwell in Psycho-cybernetics. If you lose curiosity you can lose the ability to become interested in doing something. The brain being a goal seeker accessing a powerful reticular activation system integrated into 2 semi-auto nervous systems.

        I almost dropped out of my PhD because I felt I wasn't making any progress. Then I started following a bunch of researchers on twitter and realized I was doing fine. I'm still not making progress, but I'm doing it with confidence.

        Conversely, one of the best motivators is to believe someone else has already done it so you KNOW it's possible. And sometimes after succeeding at doing it yourself you find out that was actually bogus information and you just did something nobody else had ever done before.
