My sister once told me of some research suggesting the order of creation in Genesis was most likely explained by vague scientific ideas of a universe cast into a spiritual context. Can't remember the details unfortunately.
The first six days in Genesis follow the order of the steps a developer would take to create a game world using procedural generation.
