DALL-E is the kind of application that you'd expect deep learning to be able to pull off in theory (people have been building various early prototype of text-guided image generation since 2015) that becomes really magical when done at a crazy scale.

As usual with deep learning, scaling up is paying off.

In the future, we'll have applications that generate photorealistic movies from a script, or new video games from a description. It's only a matter of years at this point.https://twitter.com/fchollet/status/1294413865610956800 …

AI content generation will bring about a revolution in video game design within the next 15 years. We'll generate graphical assets, levels, emergent ecosystems, gameplay... even entire games. One of the things I'm really looking forward to.

One application that I hope someone will build within 15 years: high-fidelity renderings of your dreams from EEG recordings.https://twitter.com/fchollet/status/475533363793498112 …

seriously though, that would be sick. Esp. if we can generate dream images based on visual cortex activity (MEG recordings?)

Something that is super tractable to build right now if you invest in the right dataset, and that would have a lot of practical value, would be a rendering aid for animated movies.https://twitter.com/fchollet/status/917529514397253633 …

I can imagine that in the future deep learning may allow us to create animated movies by only drawing 4 frames per second, filling the rest

Procedurally generated VR words would be nice. Feeding in Google maps and let the model dothe work. I would die from excitement.

Not really, people are not doing 2D animation because it's too expensive/time consuming. 2D animation IS out of business. On the other hand, this would mainly replace inbetween artists (for 2D animation it's common to split keyframe and tween work between different people)
