It keeps surprising me how much easier it is to do difficult things when you're ignorant of what you'll have to do (not just the difficulties you'll face, but the sheer number of steps that will be involved)

This is true, there are athletic achievements that I did which were much easier when I didn’t know how much work it would take to get there. Now that I know... I’m good

The trick is to pretend to yourself, and those you lead, that it will be easy, one step at a time.

Probably, ordered by difficulty: a easy thing that we know how much easy it is <= the same thing but we don't know how much easy it is < a harder thing that we don't know how much hard it is << the same thing but we know how much hard it is

It happens when paying If you have to accept the price up front (in money or time) you will think twice about it If the full price is initially hidden, your are more likely to pursue it, with escalation of commitmenthttps://twitter.com/trylks/status/1284100521264058373 …

St. John Baptist de La Salle said that in teaching poor French children. Most people face this at one time in their life. I have lived it since I was twenty and asked in a secret meeting to work on national security.

What I was thinking. Sometimes it's about fresh eyes on a problem. Like trying to find my keys, in plain view but in an unusual place, as I look at all the places I "know" they have to be. I can't see them until I drop my "expertise." My overfit model.
