It really bugs me when a tutorial starts out well and then large chunks of relatively complex code are provided to finish with little explanation. Just like clickbait

Well that depends. Sometimes you just want the recipe without all the story around it.

As long as tutorials are not personalized to particular tastes (taste about in what order information should be communicated) the most useful tutorials for the largest fraction of users are the ones that give absolute minimal info needed to figure out how to use the tool.

This and other replies suggest there are two audiences 1. just wanna get the job done 2. wanna understand and read further Maybe tutorials should cater to both? E.g start with the short solution, then elaborate. IME, good stackoverflow answers do that

I just posted a tutorial which I tried to break down into really tiny steps, each stating the problem before providing a solution. See a lot of this in textbooks but less so on the internet or in software documentation. Would love to hear your thoughtshttps://twitter.com/wasimlorgat/status/1344177736936468481?s=20 …

CSS should be easy to learn, but the tutorials available are normally terrible for that reason

Very true, although I sometimes (frustratingly) find that people just want the result and don't care about learning or understanding the general method (even though it would save them time later down the road).
