Those are harder for Japanese people to pronounce, and thus would lead to bad habits for those learning correct pronunciation (believe me, I spent six years on it.)

That's what I think as a Japanese. La sounds more ら than ra to me. But as we don't differentiate la and ra, whichever is fine for Japanese.

Why? As far as I know, the soft 'R' does exist in english, so it's not like english speakers have problems pronunciating it. The japanese use those for 'L' sounds because it's the closest vocalization they have, but it still sounds very different to us.

I think using 'R' makes more sense for most romance languages, but 'L' may be more natural for French speakers It would be good to see a diagram with tongue positions and statistics with number of speakers

2×46 kanas + 2000 basic kanji. What a waste of time to learn an Alphabet from kindergarden to highschool. Would make much more sense to let Japanese Alphabet become extinct.
