    One of the most difficult things to master in a foreign language: cases where the target language uses multiple words (subcategories) for a concept for which your previous languages only have one word. You're simply not used to parse reality into these new subcategories.

        There are only two!! (At least grammatically) Meanwhile, after living in France for more than 15 years, I still get weirded out that his/hers etc agree with the object of the possession, not with the possessor.

        I wonder if learning a new language during one's formative years disrupts or enriches one's way of experiencing the world? I was born in South Korea, and didn't learn English until I moved to the US at age 7, when I abruptly stopped speaking Korean 100%.

        Thats why learning a language isnt just learning to translate it. You need to start thinking in that language in order to be able to speak it properly.
