François Chollet Retweeted Facebook's Top 10

In a majority-democrat country, nearly 100% of top performing FB content consists of far-right propaganda and conspiracies. Is it because only hardcore right wingers use FB anymore, or is it because FB recommendations amplify far-right propaganda at the expense of all else?https://twitter.com/FacebooksTop10/status/1326551915593789450 …

      François Chollet added,

      Facebook's Top 10 @FacebooksTop10
The top-performing link posts by U.S. Facebook pages in the last 24 hours are from: 1. Franklin Graham 2. Donald J. Trump 3. The Dodo 4. Newsmax 5. Donald J. Trump 6. Donald J. Trump 7. Fox News 8. Fox News 9. The White House 10. Donald J. Trump

It could also be because far right sources are more concentrated and far left are more distributed. Like how you have only fox on the right vs cnbc msnbc abc etc.

It seems that several minor far-right blogs individually outperform the NYT on Facebook. It's not a concentration issue.

          In that case no.

I still think this could be the issue. Does anyone know what the distribution of # of sources by political affiliation look like? E.g. with news broadcasts, a small new right-wing broadcast would get a lot more traction vs FOX than a left-wing source vs CNN,ABC,MSNBC

Might it be because there's a plethora of sources spreading the same messages as the NYT, and fewer blogs on the right?

https://www.digitalnewsreport.org/survey/2019/the-rise-of-populism-and-the-consequences-for-news-and-media-use/ … Could also be that populists (right or left) tend to be more heavy social media news consumers (specially on FB) and interact more with it too!pic.twitter.com/517Ygh7dm7
