The 2020 election was a referendum on autocracy, period. And because almost 4 years passed since the January 2017 inauguration, it will take a bit more than an election to move on -- but it's still entirely doable at this stage
I think this speaks highly to the robustness of American democracy. Many democracies would not survive a single term with a wannabe autocrat in charge.
I hate most things about our messed up way of doing elections, but Trump would have subverted a single central election authority. Having 50 separate ones is a strength.

Given how close the result was, did the 2020 election deliver a conclusive decision regarding autocracy? Without senate control and a continuing radicalization of the republican base what’s stopping a return to Trumpism in four / eight years?
This!! If in the next 4y Biden administration will not reduce internal division, it’s only a matter of time for a new Trump-like autocrat. It’s fine to be optimistic but the “war” is far from be over.
Trump is attempting to accomplish in the next two months his original mission: losing the cold war against the URSS The question is if the US government apparatus will finally show the balls it needs and remove Putin's top spy fast enough to avoid existential catastrophe.
I think that a democracy that can’t give back trusted (by everyone) and timely results to its voters is not robust. The fact that what we are seeing is possible is the proof. Very sad to watch. I hope this is cleared soon so the US can move on.
