It should go without saying, but if you test more (and quarantine positive cases and the people they've been in contact with), you keep the spread under control, and you end up with fewer cases. Keep test positivity rate as low as possible and the # of tests as high as possible
It feels pretty surreal that, 8 months into a deadly pandemic, the people in charge of leading the response are still denying basic science and are knowingly lying to the public in ways that will directly lead to more deaths. At what point does it start qualifying as criminal?
I agree that would be best, but knowing what "the best thing to do is" != being able to do it with existing resources != being able to do it with the constraints and goals of an elected politician No western country is doing tracing and quarantine effectively.
