John Cage, Gyorgy Ligeti, Jonathan Harvey, etc are all (contemporary) classical music composers from after WWII.

As a baroque violoncellist I would say the term it's a grab-bag, moreover I think a lot of people would heard Monteverdi and say that is classical music.

A genre of music. Spanning from Gregorian chants from the 6th century to today. Btw: my favorite Gregorian composer is the 12th century polymath Hildegard von Bingen.https://youtu.be/C9K9PfjRjxM

Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and An American in Paris are considered classical music, both created in the 20th century. I know, they don't sound classical, they sound pure America. Music should be classified by feeling, not by type. There .. an AI application idea?

As someone who builds algorithms for music recommendation, and a classical music lover and former pianist, I can say this: western classical has its own region in n-dim embedding space, but Indian, Chinese, and African classical live in their own regions.

This. Instead of random people with minimal additional info giving equally 'useful' opinions based on no or different metrics, this actually ADDS something. Thank you.

"it" has a history that goes back way before 1700. Yes, and one of the indications how good we have it is that this music for rarefied elites is now available to all through superb & affordable sound systems (I hope these sound systems are sustainable).
