One of the most concerning things about the United States of America in 2020 is the politicization of the courts. The judiciary shouldn't be a political tool in the hands of the executive. In the long term, that's incompatible with a free society. Future reforms must address this

It's more of a political tool in the hands of the Senate, imo. SCOTUS hasn't exactly been a rubber stamp for this administration.

And term limits. "One sensible way to lower the temperature on appointments, & preserve the legitimacy of the court, is to establish term limits for justices.. staggered, regular appointmnts to 18yr terms. Each president wld get 2 appointments per elected term, 1 every other yr."

This is part of the slow-motion coup the Rs have been running for 30 years. Pack judiciary w stooges, then suppress voting eg gutting Civil Rights era voting laws, Florida ex-felons, Stacey Abrams in GA. Judges= lifetime appointments so packed for decades.😟

In as much as politicians appoint judges things will always be politics. Term limits would at least mitigate bad consequences and spread out the impact.

I do not get why you refers to this as a 2020 problem. All judiciary systems have been politicized since their inception. Moreover the work of judges and prosecutors is inevitably influenced by their own preconceptions.
