I can forgive constructive complexity -- abstract philosophy, high art. But the addition of unnecessary complexity specifically for the purpose of excluding as many people as possible is all too common, and something to push back against.

I do feel like a lot of professions deliberately obfuscate language in order to build a sort of wall so that the average person may remain in the dark, the insurance and financial sector being the most notorious.

In my experience in digital most individuals actually mean well, so I have seen more "oversight". Various underlying assumptions.

I also don't know if many programmers have the sense that their code will really live on, depending on the project, and there isn't much institutionalization of documenting in many places of work

Following on, the question is whether digital practicioners across all disciplines (CS, UX, Product, DS) should all have a code of conduct, meaning a "duty of care" like the Hypocratic Oath which enshrined a duty of care for doctors.
