Whats fucked about it: - you hate your early art - your taste as a professional becomes too sophisticated to appeal to a broader audience You either need a good dose of pop or you are the star of a niche at best. (doesn't mean there isn't any shitty art for the tasteless ;)

Radiohead, Björk or David Lynch have this pop + good art in my opinion. (though of course taste differs in general too)
