Yes, and by the same logic, the US president (regardless of who that is) has far too much personal power in the current system. No man should have that amount of power over others.

The thing with wealth caps is that power needs to be redistributed, not merely transferred. The government taking ownership of FB shares (for instance) would only be legitimate as long as the government itself is democratic, balanced, distributed

Look at the budget crisis we have in New York. It would be unnoticeable to the wealth of our ~100 billionaires to completely close the gap. And yet.

It's complicated. Billionaire wealth is generally not liquid, you could not use it like this. It's company ownership -- so we have to ask to what extent and under what conditions we would be ok with the government owning FB or Amazon. There are no easy answers
