Bingo! Frankly it's pretty annoying seeing things like this esp. as someone who spent years studying stats from basic probability theory to Bayesian statistics and then gets dismissed as doing old, uncool stuff.

IMO it's not worth letting it annoy you. You might be surprised at how many people who are the 'new DS' archetype would appreciate your mentorship in areas like probability theory or mathstats.
