Perhaps even more essential is the realization that education is about maximally concretizing human potential. It is about leading each individual towards the best version of themselves -- about identifying and expressing what they *could* be, in a best-case scenario.
Education is about collectively turning our civilization into its best possible future. Education is open-ended optimization over the space of possibilities. It isn't merely job training.

Look up Sudbury Valley. It's where I went to "school" not without its flaws, because every small community can become insular and prone to ideological blinders. But it has the flavor of something we need.

Developing increasingly inclusive political & economic institutions & making it harder to create and establish extractive ones is far more important to the flourishing of future civilization than more education, and will probably produce more amd better education as side-effect.
