Perhaps even more essential is the realization that education is about maximally concretizing human potential. It is about leading each individual towards the best version of themselves -- about identifying and expressing what they *could* be, in a best-case scenario.
Education is about collectively turning our civilization into its best possible future. Education is open-ended optimization over the space of possibilities. It isn't merely job training.
Generally, the internet has opened a world of education up to the young people who desire to pursue non academic interests. I am amazed by the information my children possess from being curious about the natural world, als encouraged not all skills we be lost to time & progress
